  2. Peru-Currency • Peru’s currency is the Peruvian Nuevo Sol • The difference between Nuevo Sol and U.S. Dollars is 2.54 Nuevo Sol=$1.00, or 1.00 Nuevo Sol= $0.38.

  3. Peru-Flag Stripes: The red stripes were for the blood in the battle that Peru fought to become a country. The white stripes say peace or freedom. Coat of Arms: The animal on the coat of arms is a vicuña, a cousin of the llama and alpaca. The tree is a chinchona tree. There is also a cornucopia of gold.

  5. Peru- Places/Landmarks Machu Picchu Machu Picchu Machu Picchu is found in the Cusco Region of Peru. It is the ruined city of the Incas.

  6. Peru-Popular Foods, Celebrations, Sports, etc. Dia del Trabajador is a holiday in over 80 countries. In Peru, they celebrate by taking jobs off, sort of like our Labor Day. A famous food in Peru is Ceviche. It is a seafood dish. Fútbol, or soccer, is a popular sport in Peru.
