  • We all have to deal with it (GAU)

  • We all are affected by it

  • Minimum raised to 11k

  • 4.4% raise october 1

  • Gator care

  • FMLA “lite”

  • Full negotiations next summer

    • Need input on ideas for next summer

    • We will be seeking out ideas

  • Most of all, listen to your faculty

  • They may be asking the wrong question

  • Find out what they really want

  • talk with them; you are their best advocate

  • You may need to re-direct them….if they are not performing appropriately, guide/mentor.

  • There is another session on evaluations, but need not wait until evaluation to express concerns.

  • Contracts and rules can be complex, even to those of us working them every day.

  • We are in constant contact with HR and with associate deans; deans so your question can get routed correctly and quickly.

  • Slightly different managerial role for chairs (engineering vs education vs out of unit)

  • Same principles apply
