  2. The Holy Spirit • Introduction • The Greek word pneuma(spirit, soul) • Pneuma is used in a variety of ways. • Some Greek did not designate names with capital letters. Spirit or spirit?

  3. Who is the Holy Spirit? • He is a Personal Being. • Define aPerson: “A being characterized by conscious apprehension, rationality, and a moral sense.”

Who is the Holy Spirit? 1st Corinthians 2:9-11 “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,Nor have entered into the heart of manThe things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”10But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.”

Who is the Holy Spirit? • As a “person” • Loves (Rom. 15:30) • Can be blasphemed (Matt. 12:31-32) • Can be led to (Acts 5:3) • Can be insulted (Heb. 1:29) • He directs Paul in his preaching (Acts 16:6-7) • He distributes gifts “as He wills” (1st Cor. 12:4, 11) • He instructs the Gentiles as He desires (Acts 15:28-29).
