The Solitary Reaper • This poem is not completely out of the poet's experiences. It was suggested by Thomas Wilkison's Tour in the Highlands. It is a typical poem of Wordsworth, which shows his belief in common people, his emphasizing the use of simple language really spoken by men and his idea that all good poetry should be a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings. In the poem the poet seems to indicate that what comes from the common people is of beauty and can last long in people's mind. The poem is written in iambic tetrameter with its rhyme scheme of each stanza ababccdd.
