HISD Budget Cut – Last News Thursday April 7, 2011 HISD Board Meeting: • 277 Positions will be eliminated from Central Office as $40.6 milllion is cut. • The trustees approved a reduction of $22.6 million in districtwide programs budget. Those cuts include: Elimination or reduction of several districtwide staff stipends. A reduction in the amount of money to provide schools with assitance in the cost for national travel for academic and other non-UIL invitations.

  3. HISD Budget Cut – Last News A reduction of funds spent on disciplinary alternative education programs including a recently renegotiated contract with Community Education Partners. A $15 million cut which is a direct result of reducing the maintenance of effort for special education.

HISD Budget 2011 - 2012 • School principals are notifying teachers and other campus-based employees that their jobs are going away. • The House’s budget plan eliminated funds for the following programs: Pre-Kinder, Reading, Math, Science Initiatives, Science Labs, School Bus Seatbelts; and Teachers performance pay incentives.
