  2. HARO Haro is a Spanish town located northwest of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja. It borders the province of Burgos Montes Obarenes with Alava ( Basque country ) north and east along the Ebro river. Its population is 12,203 inhabitants. Their economic activity is mainly focused on viticulture and production of quality wines in the Rioja Denomination of Origin, being also holds one of the main tourist attractions, receiving thousands of visitors annually.It has an important architectural and urban heritage, among which stands the main doorway of the church of Santo Tomás, Felipe Vigarny work, its numerous palaces and the old town declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1975. Highlighting the traditional celebration of the Battle of Wine, the third procession of lanterns oldest in Spain, which was the first Spanish population has benefitted from public lighting by electricity.

  5. During Middle ages, Haro grew up, absorbing the villages near Haro. In 1187, Alfonso VII of Castilla bestowed privileges, and Alfonso X "the Wiseman" confirmed it. These privileges included political, administrative, criminal and economical regimens which controlled the village. In the Late Middle Ages (1358) a special meeting took place to regulate an association with the aim to protect themselves from the disorders originated during that time. HARO DURING MIDDLE AGES:

  6. OUR FOODS: Widely used products of the garden, example vegetables, potatoes with chorizo( red saussage), stuffed peppers, garlic soup, salad of leeks, white beans with quail. Also we have lamb meat, truffles, and saussages.In summer it is typical grills, tasting sausage, blood saussage and chops. The wines of the city are distinguished by their quality, with numerous industrial warehouses, some of them centuries old.

  7. La Virgen de la Vega is the name of the image of the Virgin Mary venerated in the town of Haro in La Rioja (Spain). She is patron of the city and his feast is celebrated on 8 September. VEGA´S VIRGIN

  8. TOURISM: In Haro you can see the wineries, La Vega garden, the churches and the wine museum. After doing all these things you can go to the main bars, better known as shoe horse and take a good wine.
