How do Lions Grow?

Lions start as cubs. Cubs are tiny baby lions. If it’s a boy it grows into a lion. If its a girl it grows into a lioness. Lioness are female lions. The lioness has babies every two years.

Male lions have a massive and hairy mane. A mane is puffy hair around their neck. Males are known for their thick mane. Lions start to grow their mane at 3 years old and finish at five years old. Cubs have gold fur. Female lions have plain fur. Lions have sharp and pointy claws. Claws help them catch their prey.

Where do they live?

Lions used to live in South America, North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Now they live on savannas in Africa .A savanna is a wide open grassy place.


What do they eat

What do they eat?

Lions eat first, then lionesses, last cubs. Lions eat buffalos, rhinos, hippos and giraffes. Most lions drink water but can go four days without it. They are carnivores. Lionesses hunt the dinner. Lions hunt at night.

Males keep the prides safe. They chase away animals that are not lions that come into their prides.

Lions roar to say that he is the king of beasts. When a Lion bellows, animals five miles away can hear it. Lions are on their paws 4 to 5 hours a day. The rest they’re asleep. When a male takes over the pride it kills the small cubs
