On the way to Milford Sound, there is a nice walk back into the mountains to see “The Chasm.” I made the walk twice—alone and with Judy—and it was great.

Immediately, after leaving the parking lot, you find yourself in heavy “jungle-like” vegetation.

Left: a sign announces the slippery rocks at the Chasm in several languages. Right: massive tree along the way.

The bridge allowed us to look straight down. The river gained speed as it rushed through the Chasm.

After my first walk (alone), I returned to the car—to find Judy “captive” with a big Kea parrot on the roof.

After the Chasm, Judy and I could see that we were getting closer and closer to the huge fjord called “Milford Sound.”
