  1. Summer PowerSearch Release: Some Key Features

  2. PowerSearch Summer Release • These new features were developed based on extensive feedback from users and librarians. • The release is expected to launch the week of August 13th. More details regarding actual time and date to follow. • Update will be automatic, with no set up required by library. • User guides, navigation guides and Gale help files will be updated by August 1. • The following screenshots highlight some of the key features. Additional features, not highlighted here, are also included in this release.

  3. New Homepage InfoMarks become “Bookmarks,” a term more users are familiar with. New Banner Easier access to menu of databases

  4. Better Results Easy access to limiters, including “Search Within Results” Colored Tabs, with number of results per tab. Libraries can choose their default tab. “Reference” has been changed to “Books,” as it is a term more users are familiar with. “Instant Limiters” allowing users to quickly find information.

  5. Better Document Display Document Tools tell user what they can do with the article: view PDF, print, email, cite, translate, etc. Visible document subject headings. Fielded values provide more information about the article.

  6. Improved Citations Improved citations now include accurate fields and formatting, per latest APA and MLA standards.

  7. Also Try “Also Try” feature helps users find better information. Example below suggests “Capital Punishment” when user searches on “death penalty.”

  8. Did You Mean? “Did You Mean?” offers suggestions when a user misspells a term or phrase. Below, a search on “alcoholizm” brings forth the following suggestions.

  9. Search Alerts/RSS Users can now generate a Search Alert when viewing results or a Journal Alert when viewing a publication. This service pushes new content to the user via email as it is loaded into the database(s). Users can also take advantage of Gale’s RSS service, which automatically sends content into their reader.

  10. More Publication Details Journal Alerts now available. Expanded details include a publication description, embargo and coverage information, publisher contact information, etc.

  11. Launch of General OneFile InfoTrac OneFile will change names to General OneFile, which is now Gale’s largest general reference database. For the largest collection of academic journals, users will want to use Academic OneFile.
