  1. International Marketing 2011-2012Some basic facts and instructions • You are 184 (enrolled) in 2011-2012; 4 years ago there were 60 students • Never send me a mail without first sending a mail to my assistants (I will not respond) • Send mails first to my assistants Mine Diren (Mine.Diren@unil.ch) and Marius Juskys (Marius.Juskys@unil.ch). • I will discuss with them and give an answer

  2. Course Pages • Syllabus and some elements on my homepage: • http://www.hec.unil.ch/jusunier/Courses/MarkInter?set_language=en&cl=en • You find also some elements on moodle • http://moodle.unil.ch/course/view.php?id=2250 • For any question ask Mine Diren

  3. Firm and Products reports • http://www.hec.unil.ch/jusunier/Courses/MarkInter/rapports • A list of companies and products which have been covered by reports over the last years is to be found here as well as new ones in yellow background (reports). • You must choose a topic that has not been previously researched. In the «firm» report, you are asked not to base your text only to a presentation of the company from its own published sources. • You have to describe its internationalization process, to take some distance with how the company presents itself, and to comment on the steps of its internationalisation process, the choices made in terms of countries, markets, and entry modes based on the concepts and theories in the course.

  4. Firm and Products reports • For the «product» report, you are asked not to focus exclusively on the history and characteristics of this product. You should put the emphasis on international comparisons of consumption levels, consumer motivation and behavior in selected countries, etc. • A list of multinational companies from emerging countries is also available for those interested in studying the internationalization process of BRICS companies.

  5. Before asking any question please read first • the syllabus and explanations on the course, • My homepage, and the Moodle website • As concerns the overall Réglement d’Etudes (http://www.hec.unil.ch/documents/msc/reglements/Reglement_MSCM2011.pdf), you should ask your French speaking colleagues or the programme administration (Mme Claude) for clarification. • REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE TO REGISTER FOR EXAMS (if you do not register, you cannot pass the exam and you have to wait for the retake session, which is your only chance left)- THIS IS ESSENTIAL

  6. Teamwork • We create groups of 5 for teamwork (exercises, cases, final report). • Try to avoid over-division of labor (e.g. a case with 4 questions, each question being answered by one member of the team, unintegrated, and the 5th member free-rides and puts his name). • You are allowed to expell free-riders who do nothing and put their name on the hand-out • Try to learn to regulate your internal working as a team (it is part of the learning task)
