  3. DIRECCIÓN GENERAL DE PLANIFICACIÓN Y EVALUACIÓN DE POLÍTICAS DE DESARROLLO • SPAIN HAS DONE A SIGNIFICANT EFFORT TO INCREASE ITS PRESENCE AND COMMITMENT WITH MULTILATERAL ORGANIZATIONS • SPANISH ODA CHANNELED THROUGH MULTILATERAL ORGANIZATIONS HAS INCREASED FOURFOLD IN THE LAST 4 YEARS.

  4. THE UNITED NATIONS FAMILY HAS EXPERIENCEDTHE SHARPEST PERCENTUAL INCREASE. IN 2004 UNITED NATIONS RECEIVED 4,5% OF TOTAL MULTILATERAL SPANISH ODA. IN 2007 RECEIVED 39% OF TOTAL MULTILATERAL SPANISH ODA DIRECCIÓN GENERAL DE PLANIFICACIÓN Y EVALUACIÓN DE POLÍTICAS DE DESARROLLO INDICE

  5. GEOGRAPHIC PRIORITIES • Increased focus on least developed countries (Africa) • While maintaining engagements with traditional regions (Latin America, North Africa) SECTORAL PRIORITIES • Very focused on MDGs, basic social services. • But also some new areas: trade, economic development,

MODALITIES OF SUPPORT • ↑ Core funding contributions • ↑ Multi-donor and global Funds, with increased involvement • ↓ Bilateral Funds (only for specific reasons) • ↓ Multi bilateral Projects (only specific, innovative and highly replicable initiatives) • ↑ Funding through multilateral channels to pooled funds, budget support, SWAPS
