WhenQBgetinstalled,itsetsdefaultsquantitiesofmemorycachethedatabasemanagerwilluse. Onceinawhile,thesettingsgetmodifiedtolessthanthemosteffectiveamountofcache.Thiscould

  2. bethereasonwhyyourdesktopstartsrunningslower.Itisalsopossiblethatthesewrongvaluesget “stuck”andappeartomaintaincomingreturn. Thistroublehappensiftheserverreboots,awindowsupdateisinstalled,QuickBooksEnterpriseis uptodatetonewlaunch,andQuickBooksdesktoprunsautilityatthecompanyrecordanddifferent possibleactions. Youcanselectbetweentwoupdatesoptions: ● ● Automaticupdates Manualupdates Solution1:–UsetheQBW.inifiletosetthe amountofmemorycachetouse Thesestepsapplywhentheoverallapplicationissetupatthewebhostingcomputerand QuickBooksEnterpriseisonR6launchorlater. ● ● ● Gotothecomputer(server)hostingthecompanydocuments. GototheQBW.inifileintheIntuit SelectQBW.inifile.Adda[DBSERVEROPTIONS]sectionwithyourchosenvalues: InitialCache=256(‘None’) MaxCache=512(‘Unlimited’) ● ● Savethefile. Enteredto“takeeffect”forthe.inifilesettingandturnoffyourhostingfromthefilemenuandturn onback. Ifyouhavea“serveronlyinstall”youcanfollowthebelowsteps: 1. FromtheCMD,typenetstopQuickBooksDBXX 2. FromtheCMD,type:netstopQBCFMonitorService ●

  3. 3. FromtheCMD,type:netstartQBCFMonitorService Solution2:–Manuallychangecachesettings forServer-OnlyInstall IntuitsuggestedthatyoushouldcontactITexpertsineditingWindowsRegistrytorunthesteps below. Youcancheckinwindowswhatthecurrentstatusofcache setting: ● Openacommandpromptconfiguredtohostmulti-useraccessforQuickBooksDesktoprecord. EnterHKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QuickBooksDBxx\Parameters. Checkthenumbersafter-chand-c.EnterpriseSolutionsrunswellwithsettings-ch512Mand-c 256M.Ifyourcurrentsettingisnotmodifying,changeitasdescribe. Ifyougetanerror,verifythatyoutypeditcorrectly. ● ● Changethesettingintheregistry: ● ● Saveyourallfiles,worksandlogoutQuickBooksDesktopusers. ToStoptheQuickBooksDesktopDatabaseserviceopenthecommandpromptandEnternet stopQuickBooksDBXXrunit. ThesettingsarestoredintheWindowsregistryandneedtobecorrectedthere.Donottryby yourselfifyouarenotITprofessionalineditingtheregistry. Keylocation: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QuickBooksDBxx\Parameters. Thecurrentvaluemaybelooklike-nQB_SERVER_NAME-qs-gdALL-gkall-gp4096–guall -ch256M-c128M… ● ● Intuitrecommendedtofollowingchanges:

  4. 1. From-ch256Mchangeto-ch512M.Forunlimited,delete-ch256Mand-ch512M.The valueshouldlook“-nQB_SERVER_NAME-qs-gdALL-gkall-gp4096-guall”Note:This settingisnotpurelyunlimitedbutactually“Databasemanaged”andcanusemorememory whenneeded. 2. From-c128Mchangeto-c256M 3. Ifyoursettingswerealreadyattherecommendedlevel,youdonotchangethem.Thisfile doesnotcoverthecauseofyourperformancetroubles. ● Saveyourchanges. ● Onthecommandprompt,enter:netstartQuickBooksDBxx(xx=24for2014version/25for 2015version). ● LaunchQuickBooksDesktopEnterpriseandopenyourfile. Beforechoosinganyoptions,pleaseensurethatQuickBooksdesktopEnterprise14.0or15.0isup todatetothelatestversion.
