  1. Anthony Cheesesteak Morrison- MMA Stats, Pictures, News, Videos, Biography

  2. Anthony Morrison: An MMA Rising Star from Philadelphia In recent years, Anthony Morrison has caught the attention of the professional MMA circuit. He is now 31 years old, and he was born in Philadelphia, which is probably why he is known in the ring as “Cheesesteak.” He started fighting when he was 14, and he had the desire to train in the MMA style since he saw a UFC match at roughly the same age. He wrestled in high school, and he trained as a boxer. He saw it as a fusion of both styles, and he felt that it was something he wanted to do. It turns out that decision has paid off for him in the long run. But Morrison claims it wasn’t without its challenges. Like any other profession, he had to pay his dues, and there were times in his life he no longer felt the motivation to train. But seeing some of the people he had trained with get featured in UFC magazines inspired him to get up and try again. What is MMA Fighting? The history and evolution of MMA fighting is somewhat fragmented, because it is a mixture of different fighting, grappling, and submission techniques all wrapped into one. Some claim that it was Bruce Lee’s eclectic style that gave birth to this type of fighting. MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts, which is an accurate representation of the intricate blend of traditional boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and various forms of wrestling that is incorporated into this style of fighting. It incorporates other forms of martial arts as well.

  3. These can include but are not always limited to: · Karate · Judo · Tae Kwon Do MMA fighting uses a combination of striking, grappling, and submission techniques, which can be performed both standing up or on the ground. Many striking techniques found both in boxing and in other forms of martial arts -- such as Karate and Tae Kwon Do -- are incorporated into MMA fighting. But it also incorporates many submission strategies that are often used in wrestling, Judo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In the early days, there was a significant amount of controversy surrounding the sport, largely due to its level of brutality. When it first started, there were very few rules and regulations to protect competitors. This had caused it be banned in some parts of the world. However, MMA fighting has evolved in recent years. With a more robust set of rules designed to ensure competitors’ safety, the sport has finally achieved mainstream acceptance in the athletic community. MMA matches can be won in a variety of ways. A fighter can win by a knockout (KO) or a technical knockout (TKO), which is often seen in boxing matches. A fighter can also win by submission, when his or her opponent admits defeat by tapping the mat or his opponent. A fighter can also make a verbal admission, which works just as well. Matches can also be stopped by a doctor or by the corner (also known as “throwing in the towel”), or a winner can be selected by a panel of judges. A fighter can also forfeit the match, or his or her opponent can be disqualified by making an illegal move. The match can also end in a “no contest,” which is the MMA equivalent of a tie. Anthony Morrison’s Professional MMA Career Anthony Morrison made his professional MMA debut in 2004, when he won a fight against Justin Haam. According to Sherdog.com, he fought 29 more matches, and he has won nineteen of them. Ten of them ended in defeat, and he had only one “no contest.” It’s not a bad record for a man who’s only 5’7” and weighs 148 pounds.

  4. His most recent match was against Ray Wood, and he won it by using a “guillotine choke hold.” This is a submission technique where the opponent’s head is grabbed from the front. The goal is to cut off his or her supply of oxygen to the brain, which can result in disorientation or loss of consciousness. It got its name from how the opponent’s head is positioned – as if it’s inside a guillotine or on top of a chopping block. While he has had an impressive career so far, it’s hard to say where he’ll be in the future. But if he is able to keep his current streak going, he could very well become one of the biggest names in the sport. Referral Link: http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Anthony-Morrison-16722
