Welcome to “1Ge” Curriculum Night • Please find your child’s desk and take a minute to browse through their journals and notebooks. • Please take the Curriculum Night packet home for your review. • If you have any questions please feel free to write them down on the white note card provided and place your card in the basket on the reading table before you leave tonight!

All About Me • My background • I grew up in Downers Grove, IL. • I played volleyball, badminton, and sang in choir. • My education and experience • Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Illinois State University • Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from Illinois State University • 7 years in 2rd grade and first year in 1st grade • Personal • Married • 2 daughters one born in July and the other just turned 2 • Love watching sports and reading

Math • Operations and Computation • Solve single digit, addition and subtraction problems, using multiple strategies. • Make reasonable estimates of answers for addition and subtraction problems. • Identify change applied to numbers to represent concepts of more/less/part to totals. • Practice telling and solving number stories. • Numbers and Numeration • Count back from 120 with visuals (number grid, number lines, etc) • Count to 120 from a given number • Recognize numbers up to 120 • Count collections of objects to 20 • Estimate number of objects in collection • Place values to 3 digits • Identify 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 as part of a region • Identify odd and even numbers • Use tally marks to record and collect data • Count on by a multiple of 2,5,10 to 100 • Identify equivalent names for whole numbers

Homework • The same every week! • Homework Policy • If students turn in all of their homework they are then able to play homeworkopoly • If they are missing any homework for the week they will not be able to play • Should only take around 10-15 minutes • Skills should be review • Checked for Completion Stamp • Absent Student? Work can be sent home with a sibling or neighbor or picked up at the office. Please request the homework before noon.
