4. What are the goals of KIP? Develop a comprehensive professional development programme for KS2 teachers Develop teaching and learning materials that model, scaffold and encourage independent use of the 5 teaching strategies for Reading and 2 teaching strategies for Writing Provide support materials and frameworks to facilitate school-based curriculum development and implementation Assist students with transition from KS1 to KS2 and prepare them for KS3 (secondary), with a specific focus on learner diversity

To prepare for the launch of KIP in September 2009 June ATs will assist with random sampling of some P3 students to match them to book levels August - Pilot/Seed Schools will be loaned Guided Reading Books to support 24 weeks of Reading Workshops Additional Big Books for Shared Reading components September - Each student will receive a copy of My English Home Reading Record My Word Bank

24. Other Commitment for Joining the Seed Project Printing and laminating resources Support students to work and sit in groups For schools with seconded teachers: Secondment One secondee per year, e.g. three LETs over three years Secondees will be involved in - Assisting in developing and trialling appropriate resources for school - In-class and PD support for staff at own school - Professional Development at the NET Section - Providing feedback for the KIP
