  4. Let’s Talk About Turn to page 176-177 Let’s look at the pictures . • What are the woman in the courtroom doing? • A trial depends on people being honest so that justice can be done. Let’s add honest to the concept map.

  5. Let’s Talk About • Why is it important to be honest if you talk to a police officer? • If a police officer does not know the truth, she cannot do her job and stop crime.

  6. Let’s Talk About • What might a dishonest person do during a test? • Let’s add dishonest person to the concept map.

  7. Let’s Talk About • Why is honesty important? • This week you will be reading about why honesty is important.

  8. Listen: The story Bullseye is about a boy who learns a lesson about honesty from his grandfather. Listen for the words: • Integrity • Frank • Honorable • moral

  9. Amazing Words • integrity- someone with integrity is honest and has good morals. • Teach your partner what this amazing word means.

  10. Amazing Words • frank- people who are frank are not afraid to say what they think • Lee’s father was frank about how much it would cost to fix the car. • Teach your partner what this amazing word means

  11. Amazing Words • honorable- honorable people demonstrate a sense of what is right. • The policeman’s honorable actions earned him a medal from the community. • Teach this word to your partner.

  12. Amazing Words • moral- a moral person has good character or conduct and acts according to traditional standards of right and wrong. • Will is a moral person, and when he found the bag of money, he took it to the police station.

  30. Writing • This week you will write a descriptive writing piece. • Descriptions help readers visualize a scene. • Descriptions use sensory words that provide details about how something smelled, tasted, looked, sounded or felt.

  31. Writing • Descriptions can sometimes be a part of a longer story. They often can tell information about the writer by the way the writer has chosen to describe something. We are seeing the world through the writer’s eyes only.
