  4. ADVANCE IU MARKETING – CHAPTER WEBSITES AND EMAILS The downfall of too many emails • Research has shown that an increase in email sends = • Decrease in open rates • Decrease in click through rates • Increase in unsubscribe rates

  5. ADVANCE IU MARKETING – CHAPTER WEBSITES AND EMAILS Taking care of our audience • Starting September 1 • Send (at most) 2 emails per month per chapter • Initiate email calendar • Work with ASC’s to create an email

  6. ADVANCE IU MARKETING – CHAPTER WEBSITES AND EMAILS Create fewer, more effective emails • Increase your open and click through rates • Instead of email, consider using other marketing methods • Facebook • Twitter • Flickr • Good ole’ mail or personal contacts

  7. ADVANCE IU MARKETING – CHAPTER WEBSITES AND EMAILS Email calendar • All chapters will have a scheduled send week. • The actual send date will be determined when you request a new email.

ADVANCE IU MARKETING – CHAPTER WEBSITES AND EMAILS How to request a new email • Email chapweb@indiana.edu to request an email. • Your ASC (Alumni Services Coordinator) will remind you of your designated send week and help determine which day will be best to send. • Your ASC will assist you in collecting all the content and images needed to your email. • Marketing will create, code, and send your email.

CUSTOMIZE HEADER: VIEW MENU/HEADER AND FOOTER New process • Email calendar updates to chapweb@indiana.edu. • ASC makes updates directly to calendar • Calendar entries appear on your chapter website automatically.*If a registration form is needed, that will be your calendar entry. ASC will request form for you. Request the form by emailing chapweb@indiana.edu.

  20. CUSTOMIZE HEADER: VIEW MENU/HEADER AND FOOTER Calendar item checklist • Best to include all updates in one request. • Be sure to include: • Event name • Date, time • Location (with address) • Contact person • Details about the event. At least one sentence of description, preferably more.
