  1. DRIVEN BY PASSION PRODUCTIONTALENT SHOWAUDITION RULES & GUIDELINES Please review the Audition Rules & Guidelines thoroughly.   GENERAL INFORMATION AND RULES1.    DBPP Talent Show auditions are only open to all currently enrolled DBPP Cast members 2.     YOUR ACT MUST BE APPROPRIATE FOR ALL AGES.   Audiences of all ages come to view this event. Choose your music/act material (including language, lyrics, dance choreography, and attire) carefully for content. It must be appropriate for the intended audience that is the "general public" and considered family friendly and appropriate for family viewing. Think in the terms of "RATED E for EVERYONE"! 3.     PARTICIPATION IS A PRIVILEGE! All participants must abide by the rules and guidelines. 4.     We do not give stage time to anyone prior to auditions.  You must practice and rehearse on your own time, in your designated meeting place.   5.     If you plan to audition you must call to schedule your time. 6.     The only committee members allowed to view auditions on Audition weekend are the following:  Board Members.  No other cast members may view auditions. 7.  All auditions are CLOSED!  This means you cannot sit in the audience to view other auditions, nor can anyone (this includes parents, friends, relatives, vocal coaches, etc.) come in to view your audition.  All participates must sign-in and await their turn.  Only the board members are allowed to view auditions. 8. Entry Divisions:  Solo or Group  1.     Your act must be 4 minutes or less.  We will time all acts.  The time limits are to allow for the placement of as many acts as possible in the show. 2.     All acts are responsible for providing their own equipment, unless you make other arrangements. You must discuss any special needs or set up requirements in advance with Mr. John Brown. 3.     Props or Costumes/Wardrobe Props must be safe for all performers, easy to assemble, and portable (to move on and off stage). Mats will be allowed but not provided, no fire, smoke, knives, throwing of glitter etc. will be allowed. No live animals. There will be a primary backdrop, if your act requires a specific prop, setting or lighting, please inform Ms. Hope Kelly @ 267496-1164 prior to auditions (not the day before). If your prop setup is complicated, we reserve the right to edit.   Costumes/Wardrobe:  The Board Members reserve the right to alter your costumes/wardrobe.   4.     Performers must use natural talent—no voice over (lip-syncing) or performing music enhanced by a recorded artist or material. Participants must perform or create all talent. The exception to this rule is the use of prerecorded music as background music for a non-musical act or dance number. 5.     ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR ACT MUST BE PRESENT TO AUDITION. If you a part of a group all members must be present at the audition. 6. You must call prior to audition day to schedule your time to audition. 7.  If you have any technical questions, please contact Hope Kelly @ 267 496-1164 or (267) 292-3949 8.  Prerecorded music should contain only the song that your act is using. Please cut it to your specific needs. Submit music CD before auditioning. If you need help preparing your prerecorded music please contact Hope Kelly @ 267 496-1164 or (267) 292-3949 9.  IF YOUR ACT CONTAINS MUSIC OR SINGING OF ANY TYPE (THIS INCLUDES A DANCE NUMBER, LIVE MUSIC, INSTRUMENTALS, AUDIO RECORDINGS, A CAPPELLA) YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR SHEET MUSIC (WITH OR WITHOUT LYRICS) OR, AT THE VERY LEAST, A COPY OF THE LYRICS, FOR THE TECH/LIGHTING DIRECTOR DURING CHECK-IN AT THE TIME OF YOUR AUDITION.

  2. GENERAL PRE-AUDITION & APPLICATION PROCESS 1.    Please complete the application before or on the audition date.  Applications can be picked up at Sweet Union Baptist Church located at 1536 N. 59th Street until the day of audition. 2.     You must select an ACT CAPTAIN and an ACT NAME for your group/Individual act prior to auditions.  The ACT CAPTAIN is the "go to" person – for the group.   3.     ACT CAPTAINS:  In order to audition you must submit an application form and sign up for an audition time slot.  All the members in your groups must complete a separate signup.  It is the Act Captain’s responsibility to: §        Fill out the ACT AUDITION APPLICATION FORM and identify yourself as the Act Captain.  After you have submitted your ACT AUDITION APPLICATION FORM all communication will be made to the ACT CAPTAIN (and only the ACT CAPTAIN). §        Call and schedule the time to audition. §         Note:  When selecting your audition time Act Captain and all members of the group must be in attendance and on time. §        IF YOUR ACT CONTAINS MUSIC OR SINGING OF ANY TYPE (THIS INCLUDES A DANCE NUMBER, LIVE MUSIC, INSTRUMENTALS, AUDIO RECORDINGS, A CAPPELLA) YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR SHEET MUSIC (WITH OR WITHOUT LYRICS) OR, AT THE VERY LEAST, A COPY OF THE LYRICS, FOR THE TECH/LIGHTING DIRECTOR DURING CHECK-IN AT THE TIME OF YOUR AUDITION. 4.DBPP MEMBERS:  all members of an act must complete an application form.  You must know your ACT CAPTAIN NAME and the ACT NAME.  

  3. AUDITIONS 1. You must audition your act exactly as you intend to perform it for the show. 2.     ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR ACT MUST BE PRESENT TO AUDITION.  Exceptions are made on a case-by-case scenario and are at the sole discretion of the Board Members. 3.     Please arrive 1/2 hour prior to your scheduled audition time to check-in. 4.     IF YOUR ACT CONTAINS MUSIC OR SINGING OF ANY TYPE (THIS INCLUDES A DANCE NUMBER, LIVE MUSIC, INSTRUMENTALS, AUDIO RECORDINGS, A CAPPELLA) YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR SHEET MUSIC (WITH OR WITHOUT LYRICS) OR, AT THE VERY LEAST, A COPY OF THE LYRICS, FOR THE TECH/LIGHTING DIRECTOR DURING CHECK-IN AT THE TIME OF YOUR AUDITION.5.     Note:  All auditions are CLOSED.  A closed audition is where those that audition wait outside of the Sanctuary and are called in one by one to audition.  No one else is allowed without express permission of the Board Member. 6.     Audition results and the announcement Talent Show line up will be available by 7.     Act Captains of all acts that make the show must attend a mandatory meeting on. 8. You will receive a phone call if you are chosen to perform in the Talent Show which will be held on Saturday May 31st @ 1:00pm 9. We are not responsible for lost, stolen or broken items. Lost and found items will not be mailed. Competition Categories: Judging will be based on a.        overall performance b.        audience response c.        stage appearance d.        originality e.        personality 1.        Acts will be allotted not more than FOUR (4) minutes to perform. Acts will be PENALIZED if time is exceeded. 2.        Participants may only perform ONE time during the show. Any participants who participate in more than one performance will be disqualify BOTH acts. 3.        No Profanity or vulgar lyrics in any vocal performance or dance music. THIS IS A FAMILY SHOW!!!!!!!!!! 4.        NO nudity allowed!!!!! Keep attire at a respectable and tasteful level. 5.        NO alcohol, tobacco, or drug advertisements are to be shown on any clothing. 6.        No pyrotechnics, open flames or any other dangerous auditions. 7.        Sound Technician and microphone(s) will be provided. You must provide your own CD music, instruments, props keyboard, etc., if needed. 8.        Every participant must audition. 9.        All music must be clearly labeled with performer’s name and music title. 10.        Music should be turned in to registration table. 11.        We cannot be responsible for lost, stolen or unclaimed music. Unclaimed music will not be mailed. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THESE RULES!!!!! Rules are subject to change at the sole discretion of the Talent show organizers.
