  1. Literacy • This term we will: • Read stories with familiar school settings and read our own school based story. • Persuasive writing through presenting a point of view with accompanying detail. RE • We will be looking at the origins and key beliefs of Buddhism. We will investigate the rules set out by the Buddha for living a good life. Maths • This term we will be following the new maths curriculum linked to our theme where appropriate. Our main focuses will be: • Recognising percentages and calculating percentage amounts of whole numbers. • Classifying shapes. • Transforming shapes through reflection, translation and rotation • Written multiplication and division • Drawing, measuring and calculating angles Summer Term 2014 Key Stage 2 Location, Location, Location (A geography based theme) PE • Develop skills and tactics associated with striking and fielding games. (Cricket) Knowledge and Understanding. • We will be developing our geography skills. We will: • Study maps, atlases and plans. • Draw own maps. • Identify significant features in the local area. • Compare Catforth, past and present, and a contrasting locality. Creative Development • We will be: • Sketching building in the local area. • Using Turner paintings as inspiration to produce countryside watercolour paintings. Contrasting with Lowry urban paintings. ICT • Use sequence, selection and repetition in programs; work with variables and various forms of input and output.
