DESCRIPTION / RATIONALE • Production system of forest products should be understood as: • Industrial organization and renewable resource management are linked. • Local and global factors are not independent but dynamically structured. • Forest Products Networks analysis is useful to understand the “organized complexity” of resource use.

  3. PURPOSE • The Forest Product Network analysis investigate production system complexity: • interactions, • material and information flows, • and feedback loops • It aims to build conceptual models, understand stakeholders’ behaviors.

  4. PARTICIPANTS • Researchers and experts, interview stakeholders, audit the small and big enterprises, and measure and assess the forestry, processing, and marketing issues. • Multidisciplinary approach.

METHOD • Steps: • Bottom-up analysis of the apparent chain, starting from the final market to the forest, • Explore the branches of the chain, and eventually discover transversal chains, • Repeating the process until completing the map of the system under the form of a network, • Enlarging the scope by repeating the work at the broader scale, or focusing the scope by repeating the work at smaller scales
