  2. Welcome to 3rd Grade! • This is an important year for you! • I will give you an introduction to 3rd grade and to our classroom. • If you have any questions you can reach me at school (265-9784) or by email (kekirk@jmcss.org).

  3. All About Me • My Background • I grew up in Middleton, TN. • I attended Collierville Elementary, Middleton High and University of Memphis. • My Experience • I’ve been teaching for 4 years. • I have taught Kindergarten and 3rd grade.

  4. My Family • Husband, Alex • Daughter, Jenna • Dog, Zeus

  5. Goals • To give you the academic tools you need to progress to 4th grade. • To provide a supportive learning environment. • To have fun while we learn. • To make new friends and discover new interests.

  6. Class Content • We will cover all the subjects and topics that our state believes are important for you to learn during 3rd grade.

  7. Math • Some of the topics covered in 3rd grade for Math are: fractions, place value, multiplication, division, etc

  8. Reading • Some of the topics in reading are sequencing, comprehension, learning setting, plot, characters, etc.

  9. Science and Social Studies • We will be doing some research on certain topics in science and social studies in order for us to complete reports.

  11. Homework See Homework policy on website.

  12. Tardiness • If at any point you come in after 8:30 or leave before 3:30 you will have a tardy counted against your attendance. A lot of my students in previous years did not understand why they did not have perfect attendance yet they had been checked out of school. Leaving before school is over is considered a tardy.
