  1. DOCUMENTARY LOCATIONS

  2. LOCATION 1 WEST-END THEATRES – SOHO, LONDON Location shots and establishing wide shots of various West-End theatres will introduce the documentary topic and add to the initial opening montage. This location links to the musical theatre theme whilst, also, displaying the current situation and the closure of many theatres in Soho, London. This entices my target audience and shows socially-consciousness. I will take an establishing wide shot and a long shot of the Aldwych Theatre which is currently showing ‘Tina’. I will, also, take an establishing wide shot of the Lyric Theatre where ‘Six’ is performed. These will be recognisable West-End shows to a middle to upmarket demographic who would perhaps go to see West-End performances and the 16-25 demographic that would perhaps know these particular shows.

  3. LOCATION 2 STUDIO/SPORTS HALL The location of a dance studio/sports hall will display the training areas for young people going into the theatre industry. This location will be used for the main interview part of the documentary and will also, be used in the opening montage. I will use mid shots for the interviews in this location. I will, also, use long shots and wide shots for action and dance shots in not only the opening montage but for use as transitions and throughout the documentary.

  4. LOCATION 3 HOUSE By using the location of a house, the documentary has a sense of realism and allows me to show home pressures and mental health. This entices a socially-conscious audience and allows the 16-25 demographic relate to the location. I am going to use extreme close-ups for putting on stage makeup and to show trophies and medals. I will use long shots and wide shots of dancing and practising. Close-ups within this location will give the audience a connection to the character and it creates a closer insight into someone’s life.

  5. LOCATIONS 4 + 5 THE UNDERGROUND The location of the Underground train in London works as a transition and displays the journey to the audition. I will use a long shot of the train coming into the station and use the ambient sound of the train. THE THAMES/LONDON CABLE CARS The location of the river in the afternoon/evening will create the idea of reflection from the girl. It shows her mood after the audition. I will use over-the-shoulder shots and mid shots looking over the river. It will perhaps create the idea of an equilibrium as the audience follows her throughout the day.
