  2. What are the 5 Themes? • The 5 Themes of Geography are: • Location • Place • Region • Movement • Human-Environment Interaction • Geographers use the 5 Themes to study geography. They are always studying at least one of the five themes.

Location • Location – where you are; your specific position • Relative location – knowing where you are based upon the things that are around you • Ex: The relative location of the high school is on the west side of Percy St., between 6th and 8th Ave. • Absolute location – knowing where you are based upon a grid or coordinate system • Ex: The absolute location of the high school is 700 Percy St.
