  2. What should you wear? • Smart clothes – Look professional • Wear something comfortable, to avoid feeling self conscious or distracted

  3. What to do prior to interview • Ensure CPD is up to date and looks neat and professional • Research into the trust and local area (as these questions usually come up) • Arrange a tour of the department – This shows that you are keen to work there. • Look into transport options - Plan ahead to avoid being late!

  4. At Interview • Try to ask questions when you are being shown around the department • Shake hands with the panel of interviewers before and after the interview • Try not to fidget – Sit on your hands if you have to

  5. Questions the panel may ask • The questions will be divided into those which are designed to test your clinical knowledge and those designed to assess personal attributes.

  6. Clinical Questions • IRMER / IRR / ALARP – Need to know basic principles of what the organisations do and about radiation protection and why this is necessary • COSHH • Health and safety – such as what to do if a patients catheter bag splits in waiting room, or what to do if there is no escort from the ward to come escort the patient to x-ray • LMP • PPE (personal protective equipment ) / Hand washing • Prioritising workload – May give a scenario regarding several x-rays and ask you which you would do first • Questions about request forms and inadequate request forms • Consent • Technique and adapting technique • Inter-professional working • Quality Control and Clinical Governance • QA (DRL’s Dose reference Levels) • What to do with Anxious / Aggressive patients • Image Viewing

Personal Questions • Tell us a little about yourself? • Why did you choose to work here • What is your current job role • Hobbies / interests • What would you bring to the department • What are your strengths / weaknesses • Where do you see yourself in 5 years time • What is your favourite part of radiography • What do you dislike about radiography

  8. Questions to ask interview panel The final question in any interview is “Do you have any questions?” It is very important to have something to say. Here are a few examples: • Progression Opportunities? • Is there a mentorship scheme? • Shift patterns • What brought you to this trust?
