INTRODUCTION • Firstly, Congratulations to our 75 PIP participants who have been accepted onto the programme. • KZN Provincial Department of Public Works has indeed taken a very big step in contributing to the Property Transformation Charter. • It has been a long, but worth it journey, from the first time the concept was shared on our very first Women in Property Summit we held in 2007, in Ladysmith. • The Policy document was approved last year(2008) November, the implementation is happening in 2009/10 financial year. • The PIP aims at addressing scarce skills among African people and high levels of unemployment within the property sector.

Benefits for PIP Participants: • Skills and Knowledge transfer • Business Start-up services • Practical experience • Business networking Department/government: • Achievement of sector specific skills development. • Contribution towards job creation & poverty alleviation. • Responding to the Property Transformation Charter. • Advancement of the previously marginalized.

  6. CONCLUSION • Appreciation to the participants for patience during recruitment and selection process. • Appreciation to the Department for support and making the programme possible for implementation.
