  2. WHAT’S CYBERBULLYING? =when a child or teen is tormented, threatened, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another person using the Internet, digital technologies or mobile phones. 

  3. Cyberstalking isa crime in whichtheattacker (adult) is obsessedwiththetarget. He’s usingelectroniccommunicationforstalking.

  4. HOW IT WORKS • Cyberbullying’s not a one time communication. • Kids usually know it when they see it.

  5. Most of the time this does not go too far.

  6. When schools get involved,they areoften sued.

  7. TYPES OF CYBERBULLYING DIRECT ATTACKS- messages sent to your kids directly. BY PROXY-using others to help cyberbully the victim (either with or without the accomplice's knowledge).

  8. DIRECT ATTACKS INCLUDE: • instant messaging, • stealingpasswords, • slogs, • web sites, • sending pictures, • sending porn and other junk e-mail.

  9. BYPROXY • = when a cyberbully gets someone else to do their dirty work.  • It’s themost dangerous kind of cyberbullying.

  10. CAUSES: • anger, • revenge, • frustration, • bored om&too much time, • by accident, • to torment others, • to remind people of theirown social standing.

  11. CONSEQUENCES: • sadness, • depression, • drugs, • alcohol , • or worstsuicide.

AMANDA TODD • A.k.a Amanda Michelle Todd • 11. 27.1996 – 10.10.2012 • committed suicide (byhanging ) at her home (Canada). • Shehad posted a video on YouTube in which she used a series of flash cards to tell her experience of being blackmailed, bullied and physically assaulted. • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ej7afkypUsc

Duringthe video: • Todd writesthatwhenshewas in grade 7 she used video chat to meetnewpeopleoverthe Internet. • A strangerconvinced Todd to bare herbreasts on camera. • Helaterblackmailedherwiththreatsofprovidingthetoplessphoto to herfriends. • Sheexperiencedanxiety, depression, andpanicdisorder. • Herfamilymoved to a new home, whereshelaterstatedusingdrugsandalcohol.

  14. A yearlater, theindividualcreated a Facebook profile and used hertoplessphoto as the profile picture. • Shechangedschool. • Shewrotethatshebeganchatting to "anoldguyfriend" whocontactedher. • A weeklaterhisgfbeatherup.

  15. butshesurvivedafterbeingrushed to hospital to haveherstomachpumped. • Hermedicalstatewas worsewithevery minute. • Shebagan to self-harm.

  16. shewashospitalizedfor 2 days. • Todd wastauntedbyotherstudents at herschool, • hermothersaid. "Shewent to thehospital, shehadtherapy, shehadcounselling, shewas on a goodtrack. On theday shegetsout, thathappens. I shake myheadand I think, 'Are kidsreally thatnasty, do theyreally not think, whatif it wasthem? • On October 10, 2012, at about 6:00 PM, shewasfoundhanged at her home.

  17. In January 2014, Dutch police arrested a man in a case involving multiple victims in the Netherlands, UK, and Canada. • Todd's mother thanked police, but also said that she believed more than one person was involved.

  18. Nowafteralmost 2 yearslotsofpeoplestillwriteabouther, some ofthemstillmissherandevenifshe is dead some ofthem are stillmakingjokesabouther… Just lookaroundandtell me whatyousee? ….I seea human, butNOhumanity.

  20. PREVENTION • Educating the kids about the consequences. • Teaching them to respect others and to take a stand against bullying of all kinds.

  21. So people, bebrightandTHINK beforeyou open yourmouth, or elseFACEtheconsequences! 

  22. And also THINKbefore you post a picture (or something that’s not for everybody) on the internet because what’s POSTEDon the internet STAYSon the internet! 
