Challenging Time for You • The OCA and I understand what you are facing • When I started out in 1977 I faced many of these realities • In two years I had my feet under me • In five years I was running a successful practice • In ten years I felt secure • You can do that too! You are not alone. The OCA “has your back”.

Stay the Course • You can be one of the chiropractors that seizes the opportunities right in front of us • Practice is a very personal thing: • Try different style of practice • Work to build the practice you want • Go out and find patients and partners • Being a great chiropractor is the beginning • So stay the course. Health Policy Team • Purpose: To provide broad and specialist policy analysis and recommendations on issues key to the health care sector • Focus: Advocacy relations and developing partnerships between healthcare stakeholders that support interprofessional collaborative models of care that include chiropractic

Health Policy Team • We provide direct support to members: • Pursuing interprofessional collaborative (IPC) relationships • Assists members in interprofessional environments with practice management related matters • Develops, implements and evaluates new IPC models of care that include chiropractic • Sharing relevant news, publications, reports and policy activities to create a better understanding of the overall health system

  15. Recent Success • Primary Health Care Collaboration: • Both the Clinical/Business Case and the one-to-one support have been positively received and demonstrated real impact. Specifically, these initiatives have led to chiropractic collaboration with at least 10% of FHTs • New IPC models of care that include chiropractic: • Consulting Chiropractic Role in Primary Care Demonstration Project • Interprofessional Spine Assessment and Education Clinics

  16. OCA Advocacy • Advertising • Last year the OCA Created a new ad • The ad will run again early in 2013 • Media Awareness • 2011-2012 was a banner year • 66 Million media impressions • Increase of 45 % • Just completed a very successful partnership with Chatelaine magazine

  17. OCA Advocacy • Purpose of Outreach Coordinators • Support member at the grassroots level • Activities include: • public education presentations • tradeshow participation • involvement in interdisciplinary working groups/committees • local health care leadership
