  2. What is Chemical Compound? Water is also one good example of a compound 1a. Chemical compound is any kind of substance which is made by two or more kinds of atoms chemically bonded. Either if it’s artificial or natural, there should be a chemical reaction to form Chemical substance. It is completely different from chemical mixture, which chemical compound is classified as pure substance.

  3. 1b. Chemical compound can be shown in 4 kinds of physical status called solid, liquid, gas and plasma (eg: water, ice, water vapor). Between these statuses, there happens to be a change of bonding on particles, like melting, evaporating, etc. (water evaporates, condenses and makes clouds in the sky, rains, and goes on and on). As chemical properties, the most important property is that any kind of compound loose it’s properties of base element. As example, H2O (water) is made up of hydrogen which is extremely explosive, and oxygen, which is necessarily needed for combustion but it never catch up fire, but extinguishing the fire.

  4. 2a. Examples of inorganic acids are: HCl: Hydrochloric Acid H2SO4: Sulfuric Acid NHO3: Nitric Acid H3PO4: Phosphoric Acid HF: Hydrofluoric Acid

  5. The properties of acids are: pH of acid is always below 7 ( from 0 to 6.9 ), which as the numbers goes lower, the stronger the acid is. As opposite, when the number goes higher (till 6.9) the acid is weaker. The opposite concept of acid is alkali, which is above pH 7 ( from 7.1 to 14 ) which they reacts with acid and forms water ( pH7 ) + Salt. When you use Universal Indicator on acid, the indicator turns red for acids belong pH 3, yellow and orange for pH 3~6. They contains Hydrogen ions in it.

  6. 4a. HCl, also called hydrochloric acid, is a common example of strong inorganic acid (actually when you bond halogen except Fluorine with Hydrogen, you can make a strong acid) which can even dissolve metals in it. As you can see that it is already described as common example of strong acid, it is extremely dangerous. The pure HCl is on gas status, but when there is water near, it dissolves in the water extremely fast and makes aqueous solution which has acidity. It can be also found on gastric juice in a very few amount. It is commonly used in industries, such as making medicines, getting rid of rust on steel, etc.

  7. 4b. HNO3, also called nitric acid is a strong inorganic acid which cannot be seen usually in common life (it is hard to get this acid as a common person without license). The main use of this acid is to make explosives like nitroglycerin or trinitrotoluene (TNT) by nitric acidic reaction on glycerol and toluene. Also the original black gun powder is made from potassium nitrate. Beside of making explosives, it can also make fertilizers or propellant (oxidizer) of rocket. It turns into yellow when the time passes due to nitric oxide. Also not like sulfuric or chloric acid, it photolysis with light which it should be kept on brown container. Also when reacting with metal, it makes nitric oxide along with hydrogen.

  8. 4c. H2SO4, also called sulfuric acid, is also a typical strong acid along with chloric acid. It is the second most produced compound in chemical industries (first is water). It is also the standard of strong acids, which acid with pH below pure sulfuric acid is categorized as superacid. It can be found in car batteries or any other kind of big batteries. Also it is used in terror for a lot of times, which thickly concentrated sulfuric acid can kill human by being contact with skin
