Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean Growth with Employment (Declaration Mandates 4, 7, 11, 13) • Much of the Commission’s work in this area has consisted of monitoring economic developments in order to perform its role as one of the leading sources of comparable information for the region, including the following outputs: • Publications • Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean (Aug. 2006) • Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean (Dec. 2006) • Foreign Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean (Apr. 2006) • Social Panorama of Latin America (Nov. 2006) • “Cohesión social: inclusión y sentido de pertenencia en América Latina y el Caribe” (Jan. 2007) • Projects/Activities • “Strengthening the Capacity of Latin America and Caribbean Countries to Fulfill the Millennium Development Goals” • Regional Seminar: “National Statistics Offices and the Millennium Development Goals: A New Look” – Chile, (Nov. 06) JSWG – Implementation of the Mandates of the IV Summit of the Americas

Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean Creating Decent Work (Plan of Action Mandate 22 ) • Projects/Activities • ECLAC has developed the “System of Socio-demographic Indicators for Indigenous Populations and Peoples (SISPPI)” • “Improving Caribbean Household Surveys” • ECLAC continues to generate gender indicators, providing the resulting data via the web.
