  1. “Qatar: the next step for Helium stability….”. • While helium is scarce worldwide, the helium market is growing steadily, by an average of +4% a year, due to: • Medical IMAGING , • Semiconductor applications & downstream electronics, • Communication networks utilizing fiber optics, • Continuous SPACE applications • Deep sea and commercial diving • Ever present needs for leisure balloons … • Other new application ; heavy lifts ….. Air ships …etc……

  2. “Qatar: the next step for Helium stability….”. • Qatar has been a major helium producer since 2005 • Air Liquide helium liquefaction / purification technology • Plant production at approximately 600 containers/year of production • Operated by a team of experienced local operators. • Ideal location to support demand of Europe and Asia

  3. “Qatar: the next step for Helium stability….”. • In 2010, Air Liquide announced that it had been awarded a second purchasing contract from Qatar.. • Air Liquide helium liquefaction / purification technology • Plant production at approximately 1200 containers/year of production • Operating team has gained more experienced since 2005. • Improved experienced in logistic to support demand of Europe and Asia.

Nonetheless, the helium market should not sit on its laurels just yet…… New projects for sources of helium and further optimization of current productions are firmly required in the next five years in preparation for the declining availability of helium from the US reserves in Amarillo.

Helium demands have also shifted geographically out of the Americas into Asia and the Middle-East following the increasing affluence and spending power of these regions. Today, 60% of helium consumption are outside of the Americas. This shift of demand has put Qatar in an ideal situation being closer to the helium markets and their evolving demand.
