  2. Function • The endocrine system regulates the body by forming or giving off hormones into the bloodstream. • The endocrine system also controls reproduction, growth, tissue function, mood, and your metabolism.

  3. Works with Other Body Systems • The endocrine system works with the nervous system by promoting normal development of the nervous system. • The endocrine system also works with the circulatory system by promoting blood vessel development and blood pressure control. • The endocrine system produces hormones important to the reproductive system.

Thyroid Gland • The thyroid gland is well supplied with blood vessels. • The thyroid gland produces hormones that regulate metabolism and control the uptake of calcium by bones. • The parathyroid glands are attached to the thyroid gland and help control calcium levels in the body.   10. Pancreas • With in the pancreas there are millions of tiny groups or clusters of the islets of langerhans.
