  1. Piggy Bank Search Step 1) Go to Piggy Bank Funding Search in the main menu of this website. If you are using the Piggy Bank funding search for the first time, you will be asked to register your contact details (including email address) and create a password for yourself (the password can be anything you choose). Registering your details will automatically sign you up for our monthly email update! Step 2) Choose a database to search: Third Sector Funding SearchBusiness Funding Search

  2. Step 3) Simply answer the 5 questions relating to your organisation and its project to find the most relevant funding sources. This should take no longer than 60 seconds! Click on the search button. Step 4) There are sections on the following topics that you can browse at your leisure:- Government, Lottery & Trustfunding These are then divided into LOCAL REGIONAL NATIONAL EUROPEAN

  3. Step 5)You can run as many searches as you like! A good tip is to keep your search quite general as you will find that more funding sources will come up in the results - you can then pick the most appropriate sources for you to apply to. Step 6)You will get a list of possible funding sources from the search. Click on the name of the source and a full profile will be opened. Read through this to check if it is relevant to your organisation's needs. You can print off the details and contact the funder directly for more information.

  4. Next steps Once you have identified a grant/s you wish to apply for we would encourage you to read the guidelines thoroughly to ensure you meet the criteria Download an application form Have a go at completing it & then ask experienced contacts to read it through before you submit it

  5. Gathering information for your Application Before filling in your funding application you will need to complete your Funding Enquiry Sheet. This will save you lots of time when filling in funding applications, as most of them have similar questions, so once you have typed up your general information once, you will be able to cut and paste in the relevant boxes. Find out about your area, the people who live there, what the crime, health, employment, education and training are like, also get some statistics to back this up.

  6. Support Available Local CVS – They can offer guidance and support on a whole host of issues and are ready to help. Networking – get involved in your local network, attend their meetings, you will make good contacts and pick up useful information that could support your project. Talk to other groups – they will be able to tell you where they got funding from, what to avoid and what they would have done differently.

  7. Support continued ... Consider partnership working – ask other groups to get involved, they may have lots of expertise while you may have loads of volunteers, so team up! Funders love this, partnership working, breaking down barriers.
