Suicide Rates • For 10- to-14-year-old females, the rate increased from 0.54 per 100,000 in 2003 to 0.95 per 100,000 in 2004 • For 15-to-19 year-old females the rate increased from 2.66 to 3.52 per 100,000 • For 15-to-19 year-old males, the rate increased from 11.61 to 12.65 per 100,000 • Prior to 2003, the rates for all three groups were generally decreasing. • About four children out of every 500,000 below the age of 12 commit suicide annually.

  3. Phoebe Prince • 15-year-old Phoebe Prince hung herself on January 14, 2010 after vicious bullying from six South Hadley High students. • Six teens who have been indicted for bullying Phoebe Prince are being charged for their actions.

  4. Seth Walsh and Jaheem Herrera • Seth Walsh, a 13-year-old gay kid who committed suicide on September 19, 2010. • Jaheem went to his room, and when dinner was ready, "I kept calling him but he didn't answer," Jaheem was found hanging in his closet by his mother and sister. Taunted and called gay by bullies. 

  5. Suicide Awareness • Jingle Ball is an official charity Stomp Out for Bullying, an anti-bullying program for children and teenagers. • This year's Jingle Ball lineup includes Lady Gaga, Pitbull, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, David Guetta, LMFAO, Foster the People, Gym Class Heroes and Hot Chelle Rae. Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian Odom, Lamar Odom and Karmin will host the show.

  6. Suicide Awareness • 50 Cent is in the process of writing a new book. The rapper/actor is following up his best-selling 2005 autobiography "From Pieces to Weight" and 2008's "The 50th Law" with a book about bullying and how to prevent it.

  7. Suicide Prevention • There are many ways to prevent children and teens from committing suicide. • If you know a somebody that is having trouble with bullying and they are depressed, make sure that you keep an eye on them if needed recommend them to a therapist.
