  10. 4.The administrative divisions of YN: 16 sub-provincial regions --- 8 big cities / municipalities directly under the administration of the provincial government: Kunming, Qujing ,Yuxi,Simao, Zhaotong, Baoshan, Lijiang, Lincang ---8 autonomous prefectures of ethnic peoples:Dali ( Bai), Honghe (Hani-Yi), Xishuangbanna (Dai), Dehong ( Dai-Jingpo), Chuxiong ( Yi), Wenshan (Zhuang-Miao), Nujiang( Lisu), Diqing (Tibetan)

  13. 5. Landform A. Northwest Qinghai-Tibet plateau, roof of the world , the highest point, 6740 m above sea level B. Southeast Slope down, like a ladder, close to the Pacific Ocean, the lowest point, 76.4 m , the joint / confluence of Nanxi River and Yuanjiang River

  14. 6. Climate resulting from the location : highland monsoon climate --- in autumn and winter • dry continental monsoon from northwest controls YN. --- in spring and summer • humid /wet oceanic monsoon from southeast dominates YN.

  15. Five features: 1. A number of climate types: tropical, sub-tropical, warm temperate, cold-temperate and cold. 2. Small difference in annual temperature but big difference in daily temperature 3. The significant vertical change of climate. 4. The abundant but uneven rainfall. 5. A long free-frost period due to the abundance of sunshine.
