  2. Adjuvant Definition An adjuvant is a material added to a tank mix to aid, modify or increase the efficacy of an agrichemical, or to change the physical properties of the mixture.

  3. Adjuvants T-Mulz Emulsifiers Traditional Adjuvants: Wetting Agents- based usually on alkyl phenol ethoxylates or alcohol ethoxylates. Important to have HLB between 12-18. Can be from 100% to 30% surfactant. Costs are lowered with glycerin, mineral oil or glycols.

  4. Examples • T-Det N-9.5- 100% active, usually diluted with glycol/glycerin 70-90% HLB is 13.1 • T-Det A 249 (highly biodegradable) HLB 13.0 More expensive. • T-Det A 139 (lower foaming) HLB 13.3 • Formulated products T-Mulz 1204. 90% spreader sticker, ready to package. • Turf/soil wetters T-Mulz SAWA, T-Det N100 flake, T-Dets EPO 62, and 25R2.

  5. T-Mulz Phosphate Esters for Fertilizer compatability • Compatibility Agents- Typically anionic phosphate esters are used to create compatibility between an herbicide and a fertilizer spray solution. Phosphate esters of nonyl phenol ethoxylate or alcohol ethoxylates made via poly phosphoric acid are best.

T-Mulz Phosphate Esters - Anionic Examples • T-Mulz 598- N-8 based phosphate ester more oils soluble • T-Mulz 734-2 N-12 based phosphate ester, more water soluble. • T-Mulz 734-2KS (potassium salt) Used to increase foliar micro nutrient uptake by changing the charge of the spray. • T-Det D6PE- APE free compatability agent.

  7. Glyphosate Surfactants • Glyphosate surfactants- usually use tallow amine ethoxylates, about 20 moles or alkyl glucosides.  Big players are Akzo, Stepan, Cognis, Huntsman, and Clariant.

  8. Crop oil concentrates • Crop Oil Concentrates- Adjuvants based on high levels of C-16-18 are most readily absorbed into plants.

  9. Examples • T-Det COE- Paraffinic oil emulsifier. Usually 17% of formula is emulsifier. • T-Mulz SP AG 525- Emulsifier for vegetable oil, (usually soybean oil). • These adjuvant are used to increase foliar uptake of herbicides.

  10. Insecticide oil emulsifiers Fast break emulsions for orchard crops. Examples: • Mulz FCO-Florida Citrus Oils. • T-Mulz DOE- New product. Dormant or parafinnic oil emulsifier. Listed with OMRI for organic farming.

  11. Silicone Antifoam • AF – Series (Industrial –Food Grade) AF-10 (10% active silicone) AF AG (10% active designed to be competitive with other 10%s) AF-30 (30% active silicone) AF-100 (100% active silicone)

  12. Silicone Antifoam • AF-88 series (Industrial – Food Grade) AF-8810 (10% active silicone) AF-8820 (20% active silicone) AF-8830 (30% active silicone) • The AF 88 series is freeze thaw stable.
