  1. Here Are the Best Practices in Coaching Others, According To Jeffery D Whippo Jeffery D Whippo is a professional educator and a developer of people, teams, and leaders. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and a Doctorate in Business Administration. Being a successful Leadership and Coaching consultant, he feels that coaching, whether in the business world, or associate with sports, is simply the process of giving people the tools, knowledge and opportunities they need in order to develop and become more successful. Jeffery D Whippo explains that it takes a blend of several different leadership skills to be a successful coach one. One also needs to have well-developed personal skills, the ability to assess the trainee or follower during the process to see where they are, and then being able to step in and intervene when necessary to redirect efforts. Jeffery D Whippo indicates that there are five steps of coaching which when followed not only give the leaders a good road map to follow, but also a diagnostic model for improving the skills of their trainees. 1.Forging a Partnership - Trust and respect between the coach and follower are incredibly important. 2.Inspiring - During this step, a GAPS Analysis takes place, usually through the form of a 360-degree review where the follower that is being coached is assessed by their peers and business partners to their goals and objectives. 3.Growing Skills by Creating Development and Coaching Plans - Development plans are created along with coaching plans in

  2. order to outline the commitments and tasks to be accomplished by each in the development partnership. 4.Promoting Persistence - The coach must ensure that the follower remains focused and committed to completing the goals and objectives that have been detailed out. 5.Transferring Skills - The coach needs to create a non- threatening learning environment so that the development of the follower isn’t merely a one-time training event, but an ongoing learning process.
