  4. Time • How old is the universe? • 13 billion years old • How old is the earth? • 4 - 5 billion years old • When did humankind first appear on earth? • 200,000 years ago

How old is the air? • Part of air is hydrogen and helium which were created 13 billion years ago. • Other gases, oxygen, nitrogen, etc. were created in stars and range from 1-12 billion years old. • Because our bodies are made up of these atoms, you too are billions of years old. Most of your weight which is water (hydrogen and oxygen) is 13 billion years old.

How long is time? • ...then humankind would only be 6 months old (200,000 minutes = 6 months). • Modern humans have been around for 200,00 years • If 200,000 years = 200,000 minutes... • If 200,000 years were squeezed into one year... • ...then all of 2018 would start at 11:58 pm on December 31st and end by 12:00 am
