  1. X-FILES ''The truth is out there'' by Polidoras Panagiotis and Platsoukas Theofilidis Aristotelis Simon Teacher: Zafi Mandali

  2. In the USA the FBI for many years examined and dealt with cases of several paranormal or unexplained phenomena. Taking place in their territory. There were certain agents appointed by this service to investigate this situation; People reported being abducted by aliens, others claimed having seen Unidentified Flying Objects. There had been reports on genetic experimentation and there had also been people who were known for been in trance or possessed and others gifted with telekinisis.

  3. The «Fox» cinema industry had then a brilliant idea. To start a TV series dealing with these FBI Files a 60 minute weekly science fiction drama called X-Files which started on September 1993 and ended on May 2002.The purpose of these series was firstly to produce a gripping and thrilling TV series with the element of suspense arousing the viewers’interest on the series. Secondly to prove in a unique way that “the truth is out there”.

  4. The choice of the cast was something difficult but it eventually paid off. The main characters were two distinguished agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully . Both were suitably educated and made it a personal mission to prove that there are more things in Heaven and on Earth which are not seen by ordinary people and we can never imagine or dream of. There was an element of personal involvement in the case.

  5. Fox Mulder Special Agent Fox William Mulder , nicknamed"Spooky" Mulder, is a fictional character played by David Duchovny on the 1993-2002 television series, The X-Files. FBI Special Agent Mulder believes in UFOs and a government conspiracy to hide or deny the truth of their existence. Mulder’s sister had been abducted by extraterrestrial creatures some 20 years earlier. With his FBI partner Dana Scully, the two work in the X-Files office, which is concerned with cases with particularly mysterious or possibly supernatural circumstances that were left unsolved and shelved by the FBI.

  6. The female partner of agent Mulder, Medical Doctor agent Scully, was placed to limit Mulder’s crazy and fanciful ideas and look for something more down to Earth and logical. Mulder considers the X-Files and the truth behind the supposed conspiracy so important that he has made them the main purpose of his life. He lives alone near Washington, D.C. (Of course in their private lives the two actors are said to be quite the contrary doubting the existence of aliens ).In the long run and while the series was unfolding the two characters influenced each other.

  7. Mulder began to admit that once in a while the humans rather than the aliens were responsible for some phenomena. On the other hand Scully a believer in only “the truth” and a skeptic person started to acknowledge that there were indeed paranormal forces .A close and ambiguous friendship developed between them which was seen more as romantic than platonic. Inevitably both agents will stay in history as two people trying to solve unsolved and bizarre cases having to do with the paranormal.

  8. Mrs Scully Dana Katherine Scully was an FBI Special Agent and medical doctor with a background in hard science who brought her scientific expertise and perspective to the X- Files. In 2002, she went on the run from the law with her former partner, Fox Mulder. She is the daughter of William and Margaret Scully, and the sister of Melissa, Bill, Jr., and Charles Scully. Her mother and father first appeared in in "Beyond theSea". Her sister, Melissa, was first seen in a flashback in "One Breath", and later as an adult in "The Blessing Way". Her brother, Bill, was first seen in "Gethsemane", and her brother, Charles, was only seen in a flashback in "One Breath".

  9. Deep Throat Deep Throat is a fictional character in the television show The X-Files, played by Jerry Hardin. The character is named after W. Mark Felt, otherwise known as Deep Throat of the Watergate scandal. Deep Throat first appears in the episode "Deep Throat", warning agent Fox Mulder of the danger he is in, and later offers to help him. He subsequently becomes Mulder's covert information source. Whenever Mulder needs Deep Throat's help, Mulder places a black lightlamp in his window. This is similar to how Bob Woodward would "call" the real-life Deep Throat, in which he claimed to move a potted plant on his balcony a certain way to signal a meeting.

  10. Besides the duo Scully and Mulder a number of male characters play an important role in the plot. “Deep Throat” appears out of the clear blue sky and his presence is highly needed to put the pieces of the puzzle together (like in Ancient Greek tragedies the helping God). He is a shadowy secret Government informant who at times helps both agents with their investigation keeping a watchful eye on them at the same time. Acting more as a mentor than an informant he skillfully leads Mulder into cases otherwise ignored by dangling crucial pieces of information before him and so guiding and manipulating things.

  11. The X-File series featured stand-alone episodes ranging from horror to comedy without long term implications on the story line. The creator of the series Chris Carter a non religious person who was looking for religious experience created religious characters since Scully, the otherwise well trained and skeptical doctor, was raised and was close to Catholic Faith. On the other hand, Mulder, an Oxford educated psychologist and famous criminal profiler was a follower and a fan of “space alien” theory and so gained his nickname “Spooky”.

  12. Carter’s major influence was previous TV series like the “Twilight Zone”, Alfred Hitchcock’s works, Night Gallery, Tales from the Dark Side and especially the 1970 horror show Kolchak; and of course the Night Stalker that gave Carter the idea for X-Filles. He wanted to create something scary based on true facts since there was nothing scary on network television any more.

  13. In order for the Californian producer Chris Carter to achieve best results, he wrote the pilot episode himself in 1992 and brought on the most experienced staff members.

  14. Plot From its Fox Network debut on September 10,1993, to its finale on May 19, 2002, the weekly 60-minute sci-fi drama The X-Files endeavored to prove that "the truth is out there." The series' title refers to those FBI files dealing with cases of paranormal and other otherwise unexplainable phenomena – UFO sightings, alien abductions, genetic experimentation, possessions, telekinesis, and the like. The X-Files is a popular television series, created between 1993 and 2002. The series is about two FBI agents who run difficult and strange cases. The show's main actors were Gillian Anderson as agent Dana Scully and David Duchovny as agent Fox Mulder. In 1998, a movie called The X-Files : Fight the Future.

  15. The plot or “mythology” was about the USA government’s efforts to keep a secret and cover up everything connected with the existence of extraterrestrial life on the one hand and Mulder’s attempts to solve the problem and unveil the mystery of the disappearance of his sister, Samantha on the other. According to what he believed while a very young boy himself, the unlucky girl had been kidnapped or abducted by aliens something which affected him deeply and was obsessed with, indirectly blaming the USA government secret agents for conspiracy plotting

  16. Vancouver, Canada was chosen as the suitable location and setting to shoot the series where the mysterious foggy aura was similar and suitable for the dark atmospheric needs of the film. The show produced 117 episodes in Canada before moving to Los Angeles in its sixth season. (Some later episodes were set partly in Russia).
