VGCC Basic Skills Minor Admissions Committee The Basic Skills Committee Meets once a month at each campus and each application is studied for admissions Once the committee has studied the applications, they are processed to the Director of Basic Skills The applications are then sent to the Vice-President of Community & Economic Development for final approval

  3. POLICY FOR ADMITTING MINORS (16 AND 17 YEARS OF AGE) The North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges encourages individuals to complete high school before see admission to a college.. Release of minors from public/private or home schools does not represent unconditional admission to the college. Minors suspended form public or private schools, job training facilities (Job Corps) or juvenile justice programs, wilderness camps for aggressive behavior, drugs and alcohol violations, weapons or other suspensions deemed by the college will not be considered for admission until they reach eighteen (18) years of age.

  4. Admission : Minors will be notified in writing that admission to the College is approved. If admitted, minors: (1) shall not displace adults, (2) will be admitted on a space-available basis, (3) will be admitted on a probationary basis for a period of thirty (30-60) days and (4) minor’s driving privileges will be revoked pursuant to General Statute G. S. 20-13.2 (cl). If Admission is Denied: Minors will be notified in writing that admission to the College is denied.
