  4. Key Vocabulary: talented – having a natural ability single – only one proper – correct excitement – a feeling of being happy because something good has happened or will happen acceptance – an agreement to take something useful – helpful

  5. Vocabulary Skills: Context Clues: Word Clues Look for words in the same sentence or a nearby sentence that give a clue to the meaning of the word. The clue might be a synonym or another word that helps you to figure out the unfamiliar word’s meaning.

  6. Word Work: Grammar Skills: Sentence Combining with Nouns Combine sentences by joining two nouns in the subject. Use the word and to join the nouns. Leave out the words that repeat. Make sure subjects and verbs agree. Example: John likes science. Bob likes science. John and Bob like science.
