What is Household Hazardous Waste

  • Any household product which is labeled: Caution, Flammable, Toxic, Corrosive, Poison, Danger, Explosive, Warning or Volatile


Why are these materials collected l.jpg
Why are these materials collected

  • To provide Berks County residents with a responsible way to dispose of unwanted hazardous products.

  • Putting them in the trash or down the drain contributes to the pollution of our air and drinking water


How should i bring materials to the collection site l.jpg
How should I bring materials to the collection site:

  • Do not mix the materials

  • Tighten lids on all containers

  • Bring all materials in original containers if possible

Asphalt Driveway Sealants

Herbicides & Fungicides

Anti Freeze

Gasoline

Transmission & Motor Oil

Solvents

Disinfectants

Rug, Oven & Drain Cleaners

NiCad & Lithium Batteries

Photographic Chemicals

Liquid & Solid Poisons

Acids

Caustics

Aerosols

  • Joint & Caulking Compound

  • Organic Peroxides

  • Water based sealants

  • Car Batteries

  • Gas Cylinders

  • Explosives & Ammunition

  • Radioactive, infectious or Medical Waste


Latex paint is not hazardous and is not collected at our events l.jpg
Latex Paint is NOT Hazardous and is NOT collected at our events.

Latex paint should be hardened and placed out with your regular trash with the lid removed.

Information on the proper disposal options was distributed at the collection event.

    Water Based Sealants

    • Please make sure the materials are not in a liquid form when disposing of them.


    Only oil based paint products are accepted at our events l.jpg

    Cardboard is sent to a local recycling center l.jpg
    Cardboard is sent to a local recycling center eliminate the need for disposal.

    Residents are asked to stay in their vehicles so our contractor can safely remove materials for collection.
