  1. History of Soccer By: Luiz Corona

  2. When was soccer invented? Scientific evidence shows that a similar activity of kicking a ball in a precise manner is traced back between the 2nd and 3rd BC in a province of China. This activity is a military exercise called Tsu Chu during the Han Dynasty. The exercise is done by kicking a ball made up of leather and filled with feathers and hair. The objective of their exercise is to aim the ball in a small opening with a small net. This requires excellent skill of accuracy in order to do the exercise. The official invention of the sport which we know in our modern time is on 1863 which is the same year when the Football Association was formed in England. The Laws of the Game was also created which had been the basis of how the sport is played in modern time.

  3. Soccer Goalie Rules Goalkeeper As a goalkeeper you should: • Never throw or kick the ball back into play unless some of your teammates are completely unmarked• Never try to dribble your opponent, instead, play smart and kick the ball away• Always try to find a free standing teammate who can receive the ball without pressure. • As a goalkeeper you adhere to the same rules as any of your teammates when you are outside the 18 yard box. However, when you are inside it you have permission to touch the ball with any part of your body (including your hands and arms).

  4. Soccer player • For players, moving the ball without using arms or hands is the primary rule. Only goalkeepers may use hands or arms to move the ball, and only when they are within their own penalty area by the goal. Players may use feet, and occasionally head or torso. They can move the ball by dribbling, or passing to teammates to score. Opponents get possession of the ball by tacking or intercepting passes. Each team has 10 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper. Strikers attempt to score goals; Defenders try to keep the opponent from scoring; Midfielders try to intercept and control the ball. They can switch positions at will. Substitutions can be made three times, however the substituted player may not return in that game.
