  1. Why you shouldvolunteer with By Courtney YorozoEcuador 2016 VolunteerSalesforce Seattle

  2. Friendship

  3. Not only do you build a friendship with the community, you also build a stronger bond with the people you volunteer with. You almost become one big family over the period of time. You find that you can relate to each other through the experience you have gone through together.

  4. Experience

  5. Through volunteer trips you will also get to experience the way people in other countries live their, day to day, lives. What you put into the volunteer trip is what you will get out of the experience. The engagement is what really helps you understand the different ways people and cultures live.

  6. Ability to Teach and Learn

  7. When you go abroad there are many opportunities to teach others about your language and learn some of the native language of the community. It is a great way for everyone to learn from each other, to communicate, and to work together.

  8. To Step Outside of your Comfort Zone

  9. V2I gives you the opportunity to step away from the comfort of your, everyday, surroundings and dive into a world you don’t get to see very often. It also gives you a different perspective on life.

  10. Joining Together to Have Fun

  11. Engaging with a community is amazing! You’re able to appreciate the laughs and enjoyment of everyone around you. Two, seemingly, different worlds are combined; you become one with each other.

  12. Impact the Lives of Those You Help

  13. There are many ways you can impact the lives of the community members. One of the most important, is your presence and the time you spend with them. You may only be there for a short period but the time you spend with them will be remembered forever!

  14. Becoming a part of the Community

  15. From the time you start your volunteer experience to the time you leave, you will find that the community you are with welcomes you with open arms! By the end of your trip, you might not want to leave. After the short amount of time you are there, it will be a bittersweet good-bye to your new friends, who have made you a part of their lives.

  16. Downtime and Reflection

  17. After your volunteer experience has concluded you are given time to reflect on your volunteer trip and to do some exploring. It is a chance for you to decompress and enjoy your surroundings and the people you have grown close to over the past week or more.
