The Al-Ikhlas Cambridge Gateway to IELTS in 5 steps plus 3 • IELTS • Users are now ready for IELTS preparation course design to develop the techniques necessary to perform well in the test. • Step 5 CAE • At this level users are expected to be able to use the structures of the language with ease and fluency. They are aware of the relationship between the language and the culture it exists in, and of the significance of register. • Step 4.5 PRE-CAE • At this level, users are expected to have the ability to read with understanding written material in a variety of forms, and to comment on its effectiveness; show knowledge and understanding of features of the language and have the ability to write accurately for a particular purpose. • Step 4 FCE • Users at this level users are expected to have sufficient ability to operate effectively in English in a variety of situations in the real world as well as in the context of taking a course of study in the medium. • Step 3.5 PRE-FCE • Users at this level are expected to be able to handle some of the main structures of the language, using a range of vocabulary and appropriate communicative strategies in a variety of social functions. • Step 3 PET • At this level users should be able to cope linguistically in a range of everyday situations, which require a largely unpredictable use of language. Threshold level users will be able to use English functionally in their own or a foreign country. • Step 2 KET • At this level, users are expected to be able to use English in their own or a foreign country in a range of everyday situations with native and non-native speakers of English. • Step 1 GEP • This multi-skills language course gives students integrated practice in all four language skills, reading, writing, listening and speaking. Each lesson follows a specific topic. The grammatical structures, vocabulary and language functions are presented, practised and applied in context.

  4. Students will sit for a placement test, after which they will be advised to enroll in one the following Options of the Cambridge Main Suite, depending on results of the placement test.  Each option has 4 levels and each level comprises 100 contact hours, enabling the student to reach IELTS examination standards.
