  2. What is a Eskimo roll • An Eskimo Roll is the act of completely rolling over in a canoe from an upright position and rotating around a full 360. To roll over the canoe it takes a lot of skill and is very hard to complete. • It requires you to flick your hips and it requires a lot of power • Correct way to do a eskimo roll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9zgu2wHVi4 • Incorrect way to do a eskimo roll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTsxNTI5CCU

  3. How to perform a eskimo roll 1. First you flip yourself under the water 2. Next you place yourself horizontal under the water 3. then to get yourself up out of the water you must peform a hip flick . This may take some time and can be difficult.

  4. My hip flicks

  5. Hip flick • Before you can practice a eskimo roll you must first try to complete a hip flick. • Hip flicks stronger your hips and make them strong enough to flip over the kayak • Hip flicks help when you are underwater and have to flip yourself up on top of the water

  6. Hip flick with flotation device • After you’ve tried doing hip flicks against the wall you can go out into the water and try a hip flick with a flotation device. • This is a video of Darcy doing hip flick in the water. • I was unable to find a video of me performing this hip flick because it was accidently deleted.

  7. Eskimo roll • After you have succeeded trying both hip flicks it is now time to try and execute a eskimo roll. • You have to use what you have learnt in the hip flicks and use it in this. • Here is a video of Jack Mason doing a eskimo roll.

  8. reflection • I was never able to flip the boat that when I did try to do the eskimo roll I did not follow the procedure right because I was never able to flip the boat.
