  2. What have you had to eat over the last 24 hours? Did you just reach into the fridge or buy it from the shop without any thought? Was it served to you on the dinner table, tasty and hot?

  3. Why do we need to raise awareness of Fairtrade? • Small farmers struggle to provide for themselves and their families. • Fairtrade provides them with the security of knowing they’ll receive a fair price for their crop.

  4. What is Fairtrade? • Any product that is marked by the official FairTrade logo is certified as having been grown, harvested and sold in a fair manner. • FAIR FOR THE WORKER AND FAIR FOR THEIR LIVELYHOODS

  5. Equal opportunities for women Ensuring the right pay for the right amount of work No children working for Fairtrade farmers Access to education for all children of Fairtrade farmers

  6. An official document ensuring everything is fair and legal Free health care for all workers The correct uniform and the correct training

  7. Some of these points may seem obvious. However, in much of the world today farming and food production is dominated by underpaid, vulnerable people, who are so desperate to earn some money.

  8. You may think that you are not able to help... But...

Facts about FAIRTRADE More than 7 million people in Africa, Asia and Latin America benefit from Fairtrade – farmers, farm workers, and their families. 1 in every 4 bananas sold in UK supermarkets is now Fairtrade with sales topping £150 m in 2010. There are now more than 320 Fairtrade Towns across the UK • 4,000 Fairtrade Churches • 37 Fairtrade Synagogues • 60 Fairtrade Universities • and a newly launched network of Fairtrade Schools. They are all campaigning to support and promote Fairtrade in their local area.
