  5. Objectives • To make students understand about the meaning of pronoun. • Correct use of Pronoun. • To make them aware about the types of pronouns.

  6. Pronoun A Pronoun is a word used in place of a noun, e.g. I, we, he, she, they, it, etc.

  7. By using pronouns we can talk about people or things without repeatedly naming them.

  8. Types of pronoun There are different types of pronoun.

  9. Possesive pronoun This pronoun is used to express possesion or ownership is known as a possesive noun

  11. For example:- That book is his.

  12. That red brick house is theirs.

  13. I think this suitcase is yours.

  14. Personal pronoun All pronouns stand for one of three persons.

  15. 2. Personal pronoun First person:- The person speaking- I, me, we‚ us.

  16. For example: I am going for a walk.

  17. We are watching television.

  18. Personal pronoun Second person : - The person spoken to - you, your.

  19. For example: You should not waste so much paper.

  20. For example: I like your skirt.

  21. Personal pronoun Third person : - The person spoken of – he , she, it, they.

  23. For example: Ali likes the bat because it is light.

  24. For example: He/She will plants some trees tomorrow.

  25. 3.Reflaxive pronoun This pronoun is used when the action done by the subject reflects upon the subject.

  26. Some reflexive pronouns are myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves and themselves.

  27. For example : I hurt myself.

  28. 4. Emphatic pronoun This pronoun is used with noun or pronoun.

  29. It is used for the sake of emphasis.

  30. For example: She herself made this dish.

  31. Some emphatic pronouns are myself, himself, yourself, yourselves, itself, ourselves, and themselves.

  32. 5. Relative pronoun A relative pronoun refers to or relates to a noun used earlier in the sententence.

  33. Some relative pronouns are that, those, which, whose, who and whom

  34. Some relative pronouns are that, those, which, whose, who and whom

  35. For example :- Mamta has found the pen which she had lost. (which stand for pen)
