3. Her Biography • Carey and Mottola became very good friends, in fact, a little more than friends! On June 5, 1993, the two were married at Manhattan's St.Thomas Episcopal Church! The wedding was VERY VERY big! Many famous friends were there! And love like this, you'd think would last forever! Sadly, before their 4th wedding anniversary on May 30, 1997, Mariah and Tommy announced their separation.But Mariah's 7th CD, 'Butterfly', was released soon after, and a 'change' in Mariah is being shown in her new videos. For example clothes: Short blue jeans and a flannel is the 'old' Mariah. Mini skirts, nice dresses, high heels is the 'new' Mariah! Maybe this 'new' Mariah is a cause of 'freedom'? I wonder. Also, she is having rappers appear on her music, and the hip-hop/r&b sound is totally cool! Some don't like it, and that is your opinion. However you may think of her, I still like her and I will always respect her, I always have.Carey does alot of good deeds though, besides music. She runs 'Camp Mariah' and loves working with the children! She donates money to the following charities: -The Fresh Air Fund -Camp Mariah -AmFAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research) -United Negro College Fund -Hale House Center, Inc. -TJ Martell Foundation • So despises all the 'bad' things that she went through as a child/adult, Mariah Carey is definintely a GOOD person, and a very talented woman! She deserves to be the woman she is, and thank you God for her. Who couldn't love a person like Mariah?! Mariah Carey, who was born on March 27th, 1970, although her childhood wasn't too glorious. Her parents separated when she was 2, and divorced when she was 3. She has one sister, and one brother and all are children of a interracial marriage. Her father is black and Venezuelan; while her mother is Irish. She grew up in white neighborhoods on Long Island, NY, therefore, her family experienced a lot of racial hatred, and led to troubles, cars blowned up, dogs poisoned, and more! Besides all the "bad" things, Mariah, indeed, had some "good" things! She had 500 hours of Beauty School, and spent most of her nights staying up late in NYC working on a demo tape! She briefly waitressed and checked coats, then began doing chorister for Brenda K. Starr, a R&B singer. Starr dragged Carey to a record-industry party in November of '88, and Mariah then tried to hand her demo tape to another Sony executive, but Tommy Mottola grabbed it! Then her dream, was started.
