  2. Purpose To provide an overview for the Cadet Breakout Group Agenda for the 2011 Senior Military College Conference hosted by The Citadel September 25-27

Admin/Log • Accommodations: • >Adults – Marriot Charleston Riverview • Blocked rooms until September 5th • Reservation information provided NLT 8 August • >Cadets – Hosted in Barracks • Meals: • >Adults – Catered by Iron Gate [ARMARK] • >Cadets – Mess with Corps of Cadets • Registration: • >On line from The Citadel Home Page to begin September 1 • Transportation: • >To/From Airport as required • >To/From Hotel as required • >President’s Bus [25] + 2 mini-vans

  5. Special Events Sunday, September 25 *1800-2000 – “Icebreaker” Reception All Attendees + other invited guests

Notes • For Sunday: • Register at the Marriott • You will link up with your Citadel Cadet Host and be moved over to Campus • Set gear in Barracks Room • Attend Icebreaker Reception at LTG Rosa’s residence, Quarters 1 @ 1800 • Uniform is equivalent to Citadel Summer Leave (short sleeve white shirt with gray tropical wool trousers).

  8. Cadet Break-Out Sessions • Run “parallel lines” to the Recruiting and Retention themes for the Senior Staff. • Gain Cadet Perspectives on what attracted them to a Military College and the recruiting techniques that they found appealing and not appealing. • Gain Cadet Perspectives from Retention techniques. What are the major factors to stay? To leave? What would they recommend they do differently?

Cadet Agenda Monday 26/9 • Duty Uniform/Sister College Equivalent (Short sleeve gray shirt with gray-blue trousers and Overseas Cap). • 0700-1000 Breakfast, accompany Cadet Host on normal routine. • 1000-1100 Cadet Collier “Welcome to The Citadel, State of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets” • 1100-1200 Introduce the Cadets to the Material on AMCSUS Website • 1200-1300 Lunch in Coward Hall

Cadet Agenda Monday 26/9Continued • 1300-1630 Monday • -Assign tasks within small Groups • Scribe/Note-taker, Cadet Facilitator • Answer Questions on Four Issues: • -Recruiting • -Social Media x2 • Retention Tools, & Summer Programs • Optional Walking Tour with Executive Group 1630-1740 • Retreat Ceremony 1800-1830 • Dinner/General Leave 1900-2230 (Uniform-Summer Leave and corresponding Equivalent at sister College)

  11. Cadet Perspective on these items? • Recruitment: What attracts their peers? • Social media in recruitment: Useful or not? • How can we better leverage Social Media? • Does your College use a Summer program for accepted students that improve retention?

This site will help you determine which of the AMCSUS schools meet your needs and how to determine the best fit for you. • --First, use the School Search to identify prospective schools that interest you. • --Then you should contact the admissions office at those schools (telephone numbers and email addresses are listed.) They can provide supplemental information and answer your questions. • --Before making a final choice it is always advisable to visit the school, meet with faculty and students, and get a sense of the environment and setting. Packing List • Cadet Duty Uniform from your Corps of Cadets • Cadet General Leave Uniform from your Corps of Cadets • Jacket or other moderate/cold weather clothing (temperature ranges from 50-65 degrees in October) • Athletic clothing & shoes if desired; Gym is available • Toiletries, including: • Towel and wash cloth • Bathrobe/PT Gear as Latrines are down the passageway. • Shower shoes • Cell phone if desired • Laptop if desired (wireless internet will be available during working hours)
