  2. Pre-Game • Call partner & verify time, location, & uniform • Collect & check gear • Familiarize yourself with directions to game site • Review rules of game & know what set of rules to enforce

  3. Pre-Game con’d • Arrive at game site 30 minutes prior to game time • Introduction with partner • Dressing for game & equipment check • Pre-game discussion with partner • Discuss potential rule problems with partner

  4. Game Preparation • Check in with home team coach • Fill out needed paperwork • Walk field & discuss potential problems with partner • Check helmets & bats together • Introduction to site administrator

  5. Pre-game Conference • Introductions • Discuss special ground rules & potential problems • Note location of official scorekeeper & game administrator • Handle line-ups • Ask for questions & if teams are legally equipped

  6. Game Behavior • Eye contact whenever talking with coaches or players • Be approachable • Listen and let coach or player talk first • Always be calm and never raise your voice • Always speak to players & coaches face to face never yell across field

  7. Be respectful of players, coaches, & partners • Hustle and try to be in best position to make a call • Have good timing on all calls • Body language • No idle conversation with players, coaches, or fans • Focus on what goes on between the lines of the playing field
